White Crane Ridge Underwater Museum will Be Listed as a Regular Scenic Spot

With the construction of Three Gorges Dam, the White Crane Ridge Underwater Museum started to be built in 2003 and been completed on May 18, 2009.

White Crane Ridge Underwater Museum is the first underwater museum in the world. It was formally opened to public on April 24, 2010 during the Three Gorges International Tourism Festival. It is reported that the museum has received more than 100000 visitors since it opened to visitors.

The secretary of Chongqing Municipal Committee – Bo Xilai proposed to manufacture 6 amazing quality scenic spots in Chongqing in February 2011. White Crane Ridge Underwater Museum was listed in the 6 quality scenic spots. Bo Xilai said that the relevant departments should accomplish the matching facilities of White Crane Ridge Underwater Museum as soon as possible and accelerate the application for the World Cultural Heritage.

White Crane Ridge Underwater Museum will explore a new type of management system which best fits its underwater character. A tourism company or travel agency was planed to be established to promote the relics protection of White Crane Ridge Underwater Museum.

Under the comprehensive arrangement of Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum, the reconstruction of inner White Crane Ridge Underwater Museum will be accomplished before 2011 Chinese National Day.

So far, the construction of parking lot, reception center and other matching facilities of White Crane Ridge Underwater Museum are accelerating.

The advertising and marketing of White Crane Ridge Underwater Museum will rely on Three Gorges, Wujiang River Art Gallery and some other scenic spots of Chongqing. It will strive to be an optional scenic spot for some travel agencies and Yangtze cruise ship companies in one year.
