Thousand Years Tomb Unearthed After Three Gorges Dam's Water Level Decreased
Recently, due to the Three Gorges Dam, the water level decreased which made a tomb of Western Han Dynasty been found. The pottery, tripod and other artifacts which been unearthed drew great attention to the Department of cultural relics.
The tomb is located in Xiangxi Village, Guizhou Town. As the villager Hu Changjun said that when he was levelling the road while after the flood has gone, he found some strange things in the mud when they excavated it they found it is a tripod then they stopped construction and reported to the relevant departments. After received the report from the villager, the experts of Zigui County Cultural Bureau entered the scene quickly. After their preliminary identification, they said that the tomb probably the relics of Western Han Dynasty which have more than two thousand years. Currently, the unearthed potteries, tripods have very high archaeological value. The local relevant departments will do a further archaeological excavation. The responsible of Cultural Bureau of Zigui County said, the scene is a incipient tomb group and there are still a certain number of identical tombs, the experts will rapidly organize personnels to carry out the archaeological excavations, they expected to unearth more valuable cultural relics.
