Geologic Hazard Investigation in Three Gorges Area

The students and teachers from Taiwan and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) will go to Three Gorges area. The team including 30 people arrived at the city of Yichang yesterday.

Lu Xiuli, the professor of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), the liaison of this activity said that this activity is a part of the 100 anniversary commemoration of the Revolution of 1911. In this team, 20 of them are professors and doctoral students who are from the Taiwan University, National Chung Cheng University, Academia Sinica, National Cheng Kung University and other 10 Taiwan universities and research institutes. The other team members are postgraduate student volunteers. They planed to investigate the local rock formation and geologic hazard at the Three Gorges Dam, Badong County, Zigui county and other places for 4 days.

On July 11th, there were about 300 scholars form more than 30 Taiwan universities and research institutes came to Wuhan with more than 100 teachers and students who came from the colleges and universities of Hubei Province to participate the culture activities in order to commemorate the Revolution of 1911. In addition, China University of Geosciences ( Wuhan ), Wuhan University, Huanzhong University of Science and Technology and other 8 universities will take part in the sodality and exchange visit.
