First Stoplog of Three Gorges Dam is Lowered for Its Water Level Broke through 150m

Recently, the water level of Three Gorges Reservoir Area keeps rising. The water level of the upper reaches of the reservoir reaches 151.3 meters on September 7. The first stoplog of the Five-stage Ship Lock of Three Gorges Dam was lowered and settled safely. It provided reliable guarantee for the safe operation of Five-stage Ship Lock and the lockage safety of the ships.

There are seven stoplogs and one emergency gate in the Five-stage Ship Lock. When the water level of the upper reaches of the reservoir, the depth of the water in the lock could be adjusted through the lowering or lifting of the stoplogs. That is the guarantee of navigable water and lowers the emergency door to storage the water when it is needed.

The Five-stage Ship Lock of Three Gorges Dam lifted the stoplogs to await orders before the flood season according to the water level of the upper reaches. The water level of Three Gorges Reservoir Area keeps rising in September. Navigation Administration of Three Gorges Dam keeps following the change of the water level closely and lowered and settled the first stoplog on September 7.
