The Yangtze River weather show different features in different seasons. The thunderstorm days and foggy days in Yangtze River Basin distribute in different districts and season.

Yangtze River Weather – Thunderstorm

The unit of thunderstorm is day. No matter there is only one thunderstorm, or several thunderstorms in a day, it is recorded as a thunderstorm day. The distribution of annual thunderstorm days in the Yangtze River is that the south more than north, and the mountain area more than plain area. The thunderstorm almost appear in west of the Yangtze River, area from Jinsha River to Yuanmou area and Yarlung River area, where the annul thunderstorm days are between 70 days and 90 days. Among them, the thunderstorm days in Yanyuan, Sichuan Province reached 90.6 days, where is the area with most thunderstorm days in the Yangtze River area. The annual thunderstorm days of upstream of Ganjiang River and Nanling mountain area are between 70 days and 80 days. The areas with less thunderstorm days are the south of Qinling and Nanyang Basin, where the thunderstorm days less than 30 days.

The Yunnan, Kweichow and downstream of the Yangtze River can appear thunderstorm in every month, while the others will appear thunderstorm about in ten months. But, the thunderstorms in the Yangtze River Basin almost appear in July and August, which can be 50 percent of the thunderstorms in a whole year.

Yangtze River Weather – Fog

Yangtze River is one of the foggy areas of China. The foggy days of Huanshan Mountain in one year are 256.4 days, while the foggy days of Emei Mountain are over 320 days. There are six districts in the Yangtze River basin with over 50 foggy days in one year. The first one is Sichuan Basin. In this area, the foggy days in Suining are 99.9 days, and in Chongqing are 69.3 days. The second district is Western Hunan and South-western Hubei. Among these districts, foggy days of Enshi, Hubei Province are 53 days, and the days of Sangzhi, Hunan Province are 56.6 days. The third district is the conjunction of Hunan and Kweichow on the west of Nanling. The foggy days of Tongren in Kweichow are 54 days. The fourth district is from Pinjiang, Hunan to Xiushui, Jiangxi. The foggy days in Pinjiang are 63 days. The fifth district is the downstream of Jinsha River, from Pingshan to Leibo. The foggy days of Leibo are 107 days. The last district is upstream of Wujiang River, Xianning. The foggy days of Xianning are 76 days. Furthermore, the foggy days of Yangtze River Delta can reach about 30 days or 40 days. Most foggy days in the Yangtze River Basin appeared in winter.
