Value of White Crane Ridge

White Crane Ridge located on the north part of Huling district, upstream of Yangtze River. It is the only one key historical site under state protection in Three Gorges cultural sight. UNESCO conferred it "the only well protect ancient hydrological station in the world". White Crane Ridge is a natural giant stone ridge which is 1600 meters in length and 15 meters in width. There are 108 pieces of stone inscriptions related to hydrological science, so it gets the reputation of "under water forest of stone tablets in the world". All the inscriptions on the north slope. The time started in the first year of Guangde in Tang Dynasty (763) and ended in February 15, 1963 when the Huling cultural center was built, just 1200 years. The inscriptions recorded the low water history in 72 years. There are 180 pieces of stone inscriptions, including one in Tang Dynasty, 98 in Song Dynasty, 5 in Yuan Dynasty, 16 in Ming Dynasty, 23 in Qing Dynasty and 40 in modern times.
