Shennongjia Animals and Plants Specimens Museum

The first floor of Shennongjia Animals and Plants Specimens Museum is the Plants Herbarium. It collected more than 2000 species and more than 12000 of plants, such as ginkgo and davidia involucrate. They indicate the unique richness, complexity and ancientness of plants in Shennongjia Area. All the plants here constitute a unique gene bank. Ginkgo and davidia are praised as living fossils. There are also some valuable and rare medical herbs which would surprise you and broaden your horizon.

The second floor of Shennongjia Animals and Plants Specimens Museum is the Animal Specimens Museum. The birds, beasts, fishes and insects are displayed in different districts. There are more than 400 species and more than 1000 of animals. Among all the specimens the albino animals and golden monkeys (they are species under State key protection) catch the most attraction of the visitors.

Shennongjia Animals and Plants Specimens Museum is praised as Sanctuary of Organisms. These specimens are epitome of the rare animals and plants in Shennongjia Area.
