Yangtze River stores the largest amount of water in China. It stores a total water resource of 9.616 billion cubic meters which takes 36 percent of the runoff volume of China.

Resources of Yangtze River Basin – Water Transportation Resources

The watercourses of the main stream and tributaries of Yangtze River play important role in the inland water transportation net of China. The main stream water course of Yangtze River is about 2713 kilometers from Yibin in Sichuan Province to the estuary of Yangtze River. There are about 700 water courses on the tributaries of Yangtze River, among which 50 of them are main tributary water courses of Yangtze River. Chongqing, Wuhan, Changsha, Nanchang, Wuhu and Shanghai are 6 largest ports on Yangtze River.

Resources of Yangtze River Basin – Agricultural Resources

Most parts of Yangtze River Basin enjoy a subtropical monsoon climate. There are four distinctive seasons, warm and humid. Crops here enjoy a relatively longer growing season since there is a good light, heat, water and soil condition. There are 24.6 million hectares of cultivated field at Yangtze River Basin which takes one fourth of China's total cultivated field. The agricultural product of Yangtze River Basin takes 40%of the total agricultural product of China. The grain output here takes 40% of the total grain output of China, among which the rice output takes 70 percent of the total rice output of China.

Resources of Yangtze River Basin – Forest and Wild Animal Resources

The forest resource stock of Yangtze River Basin takes one fourth of the total stock of China. The main forests are distributed at western Sichuan Province, north Yunnan Province, west Hubei Province, west Huanna Province and Jiangxi Province. The timber forest only ranks after Northeastern China Forest Area. The commercial forest here ranks first in China and is mainly noted for tung tree, lacquer tree, bamboo and so on.

There are various species and large number of wild animals at Yangtze River Basin. More than 100 natural reserves for wild animals have been built here. There are ancient, rare and specious Metasequoia, Cathaya and Davidia. Panda, golden monkey, Yangtze River sturgeon, Yangtze River finless porpoise, Yangtze alligator and some other special and precious animals also live in Yangtze River Basin.

Resources of Yangtze River Basin – Mineral Resources

There are 110 species of mineral resources at Yangtze River Basin among the 130 proved mineral resources in China. The reserves of the flowing mineral resources take 80 percent of the total reserves of China: Vanadium, Titanium, Mercury, Phosphorus, Mirabilite, Fluorite and Asbestos. The reserves of the flowing mineral resources take more than 50 percent of the total reserves of China: Copper, Tungsten, Antimony, Bismuth, Manganese and Natural Gas. There are five big manganese ores and 3 copper ores. The reserves of tungsten in Hunan and Jiangxi provinces, the reserves of antimony in Hunan Province and the phosphorus in Hubei Province rank first in China.

Resources of Yangtze River Basin – Tourism Resources

Yangtze River Basin is rich in tourism resources. There are numbers of historical and cultural cities here: Kunming, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hanzhong, Nanjing, Yangzhou, Suzhou, Jiangling, Wuhan, Shanghai, Hangzhou and so on. There are lots of scenic attractions: Three Gorges, Jiuhua Mountain, Huangshan Mountain, Dongting Lake and so on.
