In the spring, when the peach blossom come out, there is a peach blossom like jellyfish in the Xiangxi Stream, that is the unique fish race in Xiangxi Stream - Peach Blossom Jellyfish (Scientific Name: Craspedacusta). The fish body is like a umbrella, multiped about 250 which can divided into 7 level according to the longness. It come up with the peach blossom and disappear with the peach blossom.

Zigui people regard the Peach Blossom Jellyfish as a mascot, and it is the pride of the Zigui People as the same as Qu Yuan and Wang Zhaojun. When the peach blossoms come out each year, the Peach Blossom Jellyfish come out at the same time, they swimming at the riverside against with the blooming peach blossoms and the colorful pebbles.

Legend of Peach Blossom Jellyfish

About the origin of the Peach Blossom Jellyfish there are several beautiful legend. It is said that before Wang Zhaojun enter the royal palace, while she was passing Xiangxi Stream she cried sorrowfully and she used her handkerchief to wipe the tears away, then she went to the Xiangxi Stream to wash the handkerchief . But when her teardrops dropped into the river, they became a group of colorful peach blossom jellyfishes. From then on, the local people call the stream "Xiangxi Stream". But now, there isn't peach blossom jellyfish in Xiangxi Stream anymore, only in the Duck Lack which 5 kilometers away from Xiangxi Stream still can find its traces.
