Huangshui National Forest Park – Geographic Features

Huangshui National Forest Park is located on Qiyao Mountain which is in the north-east of Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County. There are lots of high mountains with peculiar shapes and streams with clean water. It is located in the center of Three Gorges Reservoir Area. It is known as the youngest and largest one in the five national forest parks of Chongqing.

Huangshui National Forest Park enjoys a sedimentary landform. The average elevation here is 1550 meters. The highest point here is 1934 meters above sea level and the lowest point here is 750 meters above sea level. It covers an area of 50400 hectares. The main mountain is a good place for expedition since it is pretty steep.

Huangshui National Forest Park – Climate

Huangshui National Forest Park has a distinctive vertical difference in climate since there is a big altitude difference. It is also an ideal summer resort for it is cool in summer. The annual average temperature here is 12.1 ℃. The average temperature in June is 20 ℃, that is 8 ℃ lower compared with that in the county town.

Huangshui National Forest Park integrates vacation, exploration, recreation, summer resort and appreciation of Tujia folk customs.

There are 36 scenic spots in Huangshui National Forest Park, such as Bizika (Tujia) Palace, Huangshui Lake, Chuyu Cave, Dafengbao Primitive Forest Region, Xituo Ancient Town of Ming and Qing Dynasty, and Courtyard of Yao Family. Visitors could also experience the Tujia hand-waving dance, dragon boat and special wedding ceremony with traditional Tujia customs. All these local customs would make this place more mysterious and attractive for visitors.
