Fengming Mountain

Fengming Mountain is located in Fengming Town, Yuan'an County. The elevation of the main peak is 402 meters, standing at the West Emperor Hillock,like a crane standing among chickens.It is said that in ancient times, there was a phoenix from the heaven and landed on the top of the mountain and sang a song here, hence it was nameed Fengming Mountain.

According to the historical records, during the Southern and Northern dynasties (AD 502-549), there was a small temple on the mountain, enlarged in Tang Dynasty. Until Xianfeng Period of Qing Dynasty (AD1860), the construction area expanded to 5000 square meters, the main building area is 2000 square meters. According to research,the Fengming Mountain Taoist Temple was built against the mountain with a total five storeys, more than 10 feet. The temple was divided into three halls: the main hall, the east hall and the west hall. The main hall is Zhenwu Palace is located in the beautiful mountain top.The Jade Emperor and the founder of Taoism. The East Hall has Crane Tower, the West Hall has Changchun Tower which enshrining the Thunder God and Guanyin Bodhisttva. Besides, there are Yuan Emperor Temple, Jade Emperor Temple, Sanqing Pavilion, Guan Di Temple, Zhaogong Platform etc. The Fengming Mountain Taoist Temple was surrounded by the cliffs and abyss.
