Features of Longmen Gorge – Quiet and Deep

The Longmen Gorge is very narrow, and the narrow waterway in the gorge make the peaks on the both banks look higher, while the high peaks also make the waterway look narrower. When visitors pass through the gorge by boat, one only can see the sky is a string shape with heads up and the gorge cliffs only pass by near to you body, which makes visitors feel this gorge more quiet and deep.

Features of Longmen Gorge – Green Water

The river water in the gorge is very green. It is as limpid as you can see the water bottom; the color is as green as jade, while the gloss is as bright as colored glaze. When you take ship to enjoy the Three Gorges landscape, you can see the water but can't touch it. While you visit Longmen Gorge, as the boat is small and shallow, you can touch the green water just stretching your hands outside the boat.

Features of Longmen Gorge – Animals

You can't see the scene of "the sound of ape resound around the both banks" in Three Gorges now, but you can see it at here. When you visit the gorge, you can see some monkeys climbing and jumping on the banks cliffs, and yelling some times. They also make a face toward visitors, as if they are saying "Hello" to visitors. On the green and limpid water surface, there is a couple of mandarin duck which are wandering on the river.

Features of Longmen Gorge – Queer Stones

The wide river bed in the gorge is covered by various pebbles, including dark red, light yellow, light green, light grey and colorless. Some stones are with various designs on it which looks like mountain, river, and flowers and so on, which is the famous "Three Gorges Stone". Some visitors will come to the bank to pick up beautiful stones, take them back to home and regard them are decoration.

Features of Longmen Gorge – Ancient Custom

As the Daning River and Lesser Three Gorges which included Longmen Gorges was developed late, so the customs of local people, like clothes, foods, residences and transportation, still kept ancient tradition. And the well protected ancient plank roads and ancient hanging coffins in the gorge make there full of ancient color.
